Getting Started

I'm a 63 year old Grandmother who is raising her 5 year old granddaughter. I have recently thought that I should document this journey of Second Motherhood, and what better way to do it than to create a blog. I have mentioned this to my daughters in past conversations, and decided today is the day to start.

Aaralynne was born December 1, 2006, and I took custody of her on June 19, 2007. I attained legal limited guardianship of her on August 20, 2007, my birthday. I turned 59 years old that day. I told everyone I received the best birthday present of all--my little darling, Aaralynne.

So I am trying to figure out how to add pictures, and hopefully I'll get it.

Success!! Here is my precious Aaralynne and her "precious" Pink Baby, riding GG's bike in my loft office/playroom. GG is my mother who passed away March 2011. I was lucky enough to inherit the bike that we (my 6 brothers and sisters) bought for my Dad many, many years ago. We still talk about GG all the time, especially when we ride her stationary bike.

Today we are staying home to "clean" house. It's just noon and I really haven't started yet. Thank goodness I have a small house! A. (I often use just her first initial as it is easy) discovered a box from a recent delivery that has styrofoam packing peanuts in it and thought it was fun to take them out, throw them up in the air and see where they land. She was reminded several times that the peanuts need to go back in the box, but is having a hard time with that discipline.

Looks like it's going to take a while to get this job done. She is busy putting pink baby to sleep. She is a good Momma.

Time to get moving today. I'll catch up our journey in future posts as I get more comfortable with this process.
